Camping

It's Game On! for 2024 camping season

It’s time to camp, y’all. We’re open for the season, April 12 and it’s a beautiful start with beautiful weather this weekend. Reservations are smart, but you can be spontaneous in April. Just come in and we’ll hook you up—literally. If you forget something along the way, grab it at the store when you arrive. And, no, it’s not too early for kayaking… river’s up!

The culture of camping

It’s the perfect time for all things camping. It’s the great escape. The weather is exactly as it should be this time of year, 70s & sunny— with just enough breeze to make it interesting.

  • Grilling

  • Bike riding

  • Kayaking

  • Hanging around a camp fire

  • Rock painting

  • Chilling

  • Tubing

  • Playing ball

  • Enjoying Pets

  • Tenting

  • Fishing

We could go on and on, but why… when you can just come see for yourself? Make your reservation online, or call and talk to one of our amazing staff members.

Season Opening 2022

Greetings campers,

It’s good to be back! We’re out and about (although this April snow is giving us a run for our money) working around the campground. We’re undoing all the things we did in November, like:

  • Hang flags

  • Turn on the water

  • Open buildings

  • Prep river vessels

  • Restore lawn movers

  • Restock shelves in the store.

  • Organize the office

We’re jazzed about opening for another awesome season of friends, family, and fun. We’ll be opening Friday, April 22 to the public. So, start making plans… Well, you should be making plans all year round since you can make reservations online anytime— (just tap the Reserve Now button, upper right) or call us if you rather talk it over first: 563-883-8562.

See you soon,

Camp on…

Closing for the season

Sun. Oct 24, 2021. Thanks for another amazing season, everyone. The summer was jam-packed with family, friends, and fun. We loved hearing your laughter around the campfire and your joy on the river. Let’s do it again next year. But for now…

The time has come, our camping friends
To shut the campground down.
We’ll blow out lines, turn off the lights,
We’ll watch the grass turn brown.
And as we sadly close the gates
And watch you all leave town…
Kaloo Kalay today’s the day
We shut the campground down.

Until the spring... stay warm, enjoy the holidays, and plan your summer camping schedule. See you in April, 2022.

It's almost time to camp

It’s Spring!! And that means it’s time to camp. But first, a little spring cleaning. While we’re waiting for the frost underground to thaw and the roads throughout the campground to firm up enough to drive on, we’ll be getting things ready: turning on water, deep cleaning our work and play areas, sanitizing surfaces, ordering & stocking store inventory, hauling out equipment from hibernation, splitting firewood, prepping lawn mowers, spraying lawns, prepping cabins… Oh so much fun to be had, we’re giddy with excitement!

We’re aiming for mid-April to open. But you don’t have to wait to plan your next camping trip. Make your reservations online now or call to speak with someone 563-883-8562.

See you soon,

Your dedicated HFCR Staff
Wecamp at Harvest Farm

Ok... NOW it's time to camp - Opening May 8, 2020

Yeah, it’s an unusual time for all of us with the current public health situation, but we know you’re eager to camp. We are too!! So…. let’s camp. The governor’s latest proclamation (May 6) opens campgrounds for campers and RVs and Pop-ups that have a self-contained restroom starting this Friday, May 8, 2020

This means that the shower houses will remain closed. And the playgrounds are still closed, and so are common gathering areas. But the store is open and we got firewood to burn and camping is officially on! So…

Let’s please continue to follow social distancing guidelines and…

  1. Avoid large gatherings (10+ people) at your camp site. Yes, even around the campfire.

  2. Visit the store with no more than a few other people.

  3. Be extra patient and kind and respectful and mindful of others.

As usual, you can make reservations online, wecamp.com or call 563-883-8562.

Closed until April 30- Public Health Condition

Iowa campgrounds are now closed until April 30. But it's all ok. It's not the first year we have to wait to open. Please keep doing your part at home to abide by the CDC health emergency guidelines that most effectively combat the corona virus pandemic. You know the drill. Plus, the benefits of doing the right thing are… doing what you love (CAMPING!), sooner than later. And, of course, being able to see every one of you back here this summer where you belong. We’ll keep monitoring the situation and stay in touch with updates.

Hang in there, camping is still right around the corner.
